Coal mine explosion in China kills dozens
A gas explosion at the Liushenyu coal mine in Shanxi province, northern China, killed at least 82 people on Friday evening, making it the country's deadliest mining accident in recent years. Around 247 workers were underground at the time of the blast, with over 120 hospitalized and a small number still missing or unaccounted for. Chinese President Xi Jinping called for an all-out rescue effort and a thorough investigation, while authorities detained personnel responsible for the mine.
