Senate vote to hold Anthony Fauci in contempt

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted 8-5 along party lines to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress after he invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times during a hearing the previous week. Committee Chairman Rand Paul announced the contempt referral would be hand-delivered to the Justice Department and the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. Fauci's attorney condemned the vote as a political stunt, while Democrats called it an abuse of power.
