Supreme Court rules on birthright citizenship case
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to uphold birthright citizenship, striking down President Donald Trump's executive order that sought to deny automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. to parents who are undocumented or on temporary visas. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the majority opinion, affirming that the 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to nearly all persons born on U.S. soil. Trump responded by calling the ruling 'too bad' and urged Congress to pass legislation ending birthright citizenship.
